Missing Brooklyn NY Teenager, Justina England -...
aprm718: Justina England is my co-worker Latonya’s daughter. The local news hasn’t done a report on her disappearance so the more people spreading the word the better.  If you see her or have any info, please use the contact info [which includes the number for the NYPD’s 77th Precinct] on the poster. Please re-blog this poster and spread the word. Also if you’re in the Brooklyn area and have...

I’ve been following a “fitness inspiration” tumblr for a few weeks because I am ridiculously lame and it’s actually been really helpful. It’s basically just a lot of exercise tips and pictures of good healthy food. More than anything it’s reminded me that the end goal isn’t to work out 24 hours a day and eat 0 calories, which is sometimes hard to remember...

The baba man is sick :’( There has never been anything more pathetic than a sick baby. I’m close on his heels with that inner heat you know is going to manifest in any manner of horrible ways. What to do? What to do? Make a garlicky, vegetable packed soup to chase away the demons. Lou’s Chunky Split Pea Soup 2 tbsp Olive Oil 1 yellow onion, diced 6 cloves garlic,...

So the other day when I posted a  picture of George and said it was from “around a month ago”,  it turns our it was actually from early October. Whoops. At least it made me take out the camera today. Looking good son! “I know, Mom.” 10 months. It’s a pretty magical age. He can walk and eat pretty much whatever despite only having one tooth. Showing off said...

It’s been a pretty perfect day. Had a definite dose of much needed New York magic. In the daily grind of noise, smog and smelly people, it can be easy to forget why we choose to live here. And then this happens: Shane offers to stay home with the baby while I go into the city. Sweet lord thank you! G is in that phase of mobility with no ability to reason. Basically a toddling, smiling,...

Happy New Years! It’s been a while, poor little neglected blog. G’s been growing and being amazing. He just turned 10 months and is walking a bit. Saying a few words. Wearing jeans like a fucking boss. My sweet city baby around a month ago: I’m really looking forward to the coming year. Hopefully I’ll develop some self-discipline and make the things I want actually...

The neighbors won’t stop playing music that sounds like what a Polish person would have committed suicide to in 1968. Come on y’all. COME ON.

Uh-oh! Feels like Fall. I definitely feel the most conflicted about it of all the seasons. On one hand- No more disgusting butt sweat! Apple Cider! Sweaters! On the other hand- Shorter days! Impending winter-y isolation! Possible soul crushing depression! I’ll give it a resounding :-/ face and call it a day. THIS lovely piece of furniture’s existence in my living room caused a...

I want to have the type of blog one day where I can be like, “Alright y’all, I just finished all of Community and now I need something else to watch in its entirety.”  And then someone will tell me about some awesome British show that ISN’T ACTUALLY BORING and just happens to stream on Netflix. I guess I just need people to read my blog? I think that is what I am...

I guess I lied about writing regularly. George is a big ol’ 7 months now! Oh my sweet baby! Him being cute in Prospect Park: And him falling asleep in Prospect Park: I would have loved to have taken a picture of him eating his first roti right before this, but he was too busy screaming when I wasn’t shoveling roast beef into his mouth. George seems to have the same relationship...

It’s been awhile internet world. I started watching a little baby full time last week and we went on vacay to Wilmington to visit the fam. My cousin got married. George swam in an ocean not awash in sewage. Lots of exciting stuff going on over here in Casa de Musselman/Lamborne! And now to enjoy the elusive double nap I have going on with the babies right now.

Okay. Oh wow. The worst thing has just happened. I will never recover! The sweet angel fell asleep at 6:00pm after being very very fussy ALL DAY, so I think, “Yes! I will go buy beer!” So, I do. Walking back from the store I step in the BIGGEST PILE OF DOG(HORSE?) SHIT I HAVE EVER SEEN. It is so big it surrounded my entire shoe and sloshed inside of it and splattered all over my...

Since having George I’ve spent way more time outside. No more weekend-long hangovers and Netflix binges. Although, when he was first born I did watch the entire series of Roseanne while he nursed 16-18 hours a day. It’s wild how many stages George has already been through and he’s not even 6 months old yet.  Anyways. Outside. Parks. Lots of parks. Our favorite since moving to...

I recently started giving my giant baby solid foods. I wanted to be cool and try the whole baby led weaning thing and let George “experience” food instead of giving him purees, but I nearly had a heart attack every time he put whole pieces of avocado or banana in his mouth. So old school baby food it is! Step 1: Wash, peel and cut up a bag of sweet potatoes. I used 6. Step 2: Steam...

Back in business! So, we moved. It was a harrowing process. But now it’s over. My mother and sister helped quite a bit. I’m pretty sure I’d be cowering under boxes still if I hadn’t had an audience for a week. Ridgewood is AMAZING. Also, even though our address says Ridgewood, we are clearly a block away from Bushwick which is actually really nice. I can have tacos in...

I have been able to eat and form full sentences today! Which is a vast improvement from the past few days. Between a teething baby, this atrocious city heat and doing war with my landlord I’ve been just a teensy tiny bit stressed. That is a lie. I have been a train wreck. Also, it hasn’t been “doing war with my landlord” as much as me calling and emailing and texting and...

So, my baby clearly already thinks I am an idiot. I tried to take some pictures earlier and he has the same, “wtf, mom?” look in each of them. Are you serious? He looks like he feels almost sorry for me… :-(

I love Ridgewood. No, I LOVE RIDGEWOOD. I will find a home there and start perming my hair and learn Polish. It is my destiny. #46382 it is my favorite place ever: Pljeskavica from Bosna Express. (I was too embarrassed to take a full on picture, so I had to kind of hide around the corner and act like I was texting…) This place is nestled right under the Forest stop on the M line and...

It was a long week. I couldn’t really tell you why, but it was. And now it’s over. Thank goodness. Shane had his wisdom teeth out on Tuesday afternoon and I was prepared for it to be the worst thing that has ever happened, but like 2 hours afterward he was all, “I think I’m going in to work tomorrow.” This is the exact opposite thing that happened to me. I was in bed...

So if you’re in need of a date night idea in Bushwick that won’t break the bank, this exists: Hours of fun, I’m sure. In all seriousness I want to know who runs this. You have to make an appointment(!) to play and I’d just really like to see the dude who comes to open the padlock with a couple of mini golf clubs in tow. Did he think this was going to be huge? Intrigue! ...

The fam went to a cookout on Sunday hosted by Shane’s childhood BFF, Frank. It was a lot of fun and I am always very very thankful for time spent outdoors (not in a public place). Also, some dude made a hammed duck in a smoker, which I don’t even understand, but it was the best meat I’ve ever had. Anyways. Frank made these fantastic beans that I tried to replicate. I asked him...

I’m pretty sure before I moved to New York I was rarely compelled to physically assault someone. Now I am filled with murderous rage every time I encounter a person in the service industry. Thanks a lot Sandra at Target’s checkout for being a huge bitch. Or maybe it’s just me… George would like to thank his beloved Aunt ChiChi for the awesome print seen above on his...

I have a long history of not drinking water. Until I was 16 and my hot, health-conscious girlfriends shamed me, I had voluntarily drank a glass of water maybe 2 times. Probably never. This is not my mother’s fault either. Growing up I rarely saw her drink anything other than water or coffee. She was so excited when the Brita filter came out. Girl was ob-sessed. So anyways. I’m...
