The baba man is sick :’(
There has never been anything more pathetic than a sick baby.
I’m close on his heels with that inner heat you know is going to manifest in any manner of horrible ways.
What to do? What to do?
Make a garlicky, vegetable packed soup to chase away the demons.
Lou’s Chunky Split Pea Soup
2 tbsp Olive Oil
1 yellow onion, diced
6 cloves garlic, minced
2 stalks celery, chopped
1 leek, white and 1/2 of green part sliced thin
1 giant carrot, peeled and sliced super thin with mandolin (I improvise with a veggie peeler)
2 tbsp adobo spice
1 tbsp Italian spice
1 tbsp Hungarian Paprika
1 tsp red pepper
S & P to taste
2 1/4 Cups dried split peas
1 quart vegetable or chicken stock
1 quart water
Step 1:
Prepare Vegetables

Step 2:
Saute Onion, garlic, celery and leek in Olive oil in a large stock pot on medium heat for around 5 minutes or until tender. Do not brown.

Step 3:
Add carrots and and all spices. Continue to saute for 2 minutes. Making the carrot strips as thin as possible is integral to the success of the soup.
Step 4:
Add stock and water. I used a homemade chicken stock from my friend Carter’s amazing poached chicken recipe. Bring to a rolling boil, then cover and simmer, stirring occasionally between 1 1/2- 2 hours. You’ll need to skim the froth off the top a couple times.

The end result should be a chunky, delicious sludge of healthy goodness. Serve with fresh radish, scallion and black pepper to make it extra tasty.

Proceed to eat on the couch snuggled with your sick little man watching Pocoyo.
